Peter Boyle, the actor who played the monster in Mel Brooks’ hilarious Young Frankenstein and the father in the sitcom Everybody Loves Raymond, has died at the age of 71 from heart disease.
For me, his best role was in a 1995 episode of The X-Files, called Clyde Bruckman’s Final Repose where he played a character who became obsessed with the death of the Big Bopper, Buddy Holly and Richie Valens to the point where he could predict the future. He won an Emmy Award for the role as Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series.
