A simple gadget idea has been doing the rounds on the blogosphere recently, with many proponents literally arriving in their jeans over such a seemingly ingenious idea.
It’s known as the bottle-top based tripod gizmo – you know, for a stills camera – which can apparently be built for a mere pittance.
I’d like someone to explain why a flat, elevated surface wouldn’t suffice, instead of this preposterously overrated bodge. I mean, what would you be gaining, in terms of height, by using one of these things on top of a Pepsi bottle?
Nothing, from what I can see. Maybe a foot, but that’s about it.
It’s another example of doing something for the sake of it, but everyone is cooing and crowing “oh wow, isn’t that soooooo cool!”
Some people need to get out more.

The movie is being written by David Hayter, who wrote the screenplay for X-Men and X2.
I hope they get this one right.
