It’s undoubtedly one of the funniest websites in the world, and their September 11 headline “Holy Fucking Shit!” is among the best headlines in history, but sometimes, they simply don’t know what the limit is.

In The Copydesk’s referrer stats today, I noticed a site called The Fourth Estate, and was pleasantly surprised to find The Copydesk listed alongside sites like Media Central, Obscure Store and a whole bunch of top-notch journalism/media sites.
I don’t know who looks after the site, but they obviously consider The Copydesk to be a worthy source of … well… something or other.

I’m not ashamed to admit that I’ve been glued to this year’s Celebrity Big Brother, especially the 24-hour feeds on e4 Interactive.
It has temporarily taken the place of BBC News 24 as my “background” television when I’m at home.
Tonight’s task, where Les Dennis ended up last in a quiz and was forced to nominate two of his celebrity housemates for eviction, was fantastic.
It’s looking like the finale could end up being a close-run thing between poor Les and the lovely Melinda Messenger.

I watched the hugely underrated Jacob’s Ladder on the Sci-Fi Channel tonight, and was pleasantly reminded of just how brilliant it is.
I wouldn’t want to spoil the plot for anyone who hasn’t already seen the movie, but it’s a terrific supernatural tale that follows the waking nightmares of a former Vietnam veteran, Jacob Singer, as he struggles to accept the death of his young son and the break-up of his marriage.
Of course, it’s much more than that, but you’ll have to watch it to understand the bigger picture.
It’s an easy film to criticse because of its disjointed storyline, but too few people appreciated its subtle ploys and touching dialogue, not to mention the fact that the ending was almost entirely ripped-off by David Koepp for Brian de Palma’s clever Carlito’s Way.

The Framley Examiner is a worthy UK answer to The Onion, and should also make a good Christmas present in it’s book form.

You may have noticed an outage of The Copydesk over the past day.
Unfortunately, this was due to a DNS problem with our hosting company, which has now been resolved.
