The world’s first disposable mobile phone has been launched in the USA, the Hop-On.
Hands up who reckons we’re in for a whole new wave of mobile phone-related crime?

Guilt By Association, Hasty Generalization, Burden of Proof and Appeal to Flattery.
All argumentative fallacies.

A Watford FC fan by the name of Brian Tindle has experienced the wrath of a former girlfriend, when his cheating ways were publically exposed on the Watford Rivals.net messageboard forum.
Football discussions have taken a back-seat to the argument between Brian and a girl calling herself Bimbo83, attracting massive amounts of traffic to the Watford Rivals site as the two sling mud, insults and threats at each other.

My drinking chum and world-famous comic-book writer Mark Millar has launched his own website, MillarWorld.
I had hoped he would be producing a daily weblog, but he’s too busy writing stuff like the X-Men, so it looks like he’s just going to update it once per week.
Found on LinkMachineGo.

A few days ago, I emailed Sean Nolan, proprietor of Yaywastaken.com (he’s the chap who provides the nifty referrer script we use here on The Copydesk) and asked him for help in creating a MouseButtonDown image state function for our search button in the left nav.
Well, Sean went straight to work and knocked out a cracking little bit of code that does exactly that.
Sometimes, the things we derive the most pleasure from are the simplest.
A big thanks to Sean for his hard, and kind work.
Go visit his site.

Is weblogging in danger of losing its way?
Debate over The Guardian’s decision to run a weblog competition is raging across the blogging community, starting with Tom Coates at PlasticBag.org and our very own Hodgers.
It certainly doesn’t help when Blogger’s founder, Evan Williams dances merrily to the tune of such a bad idea and helps to promote this and other foolish blogging-related nonsense such as Blogathon 2002, where webloggers are supposed to try and blog for chariddy.
Another idea to emerge recently is BlogWhore, an online-style Big Brother/Survivor gameshow where contestants are required to perform blog-related tasks in order to remain in the game.
What will be next?

The Copydesk is now a little bit wider.
We no longer fully cater for people browsing at 640×480, and the minimum resolution we now support is 800×600.
If you can’t see the right-hand links, or things look a little bit squashed, it’s time you invested in a better graphics card and monitor.
